Your employer adds 7% of the retail price of the bicycle to your income. Mollie deducts income tax from this. You will then find this addition on your payslip. This works exactly the same as for the lease car. For a bicycle of € 2,500, you pay € 175 per year in addition to your salary. This means € 175 / 12 = € 14.58 per month. You add this amount to your gross income and then pay tax on it. In practice, this amounts to a net amount of around € 5 per month.
All contracts concluded by Lease a Bike are standard with all-risk insurance (without franchise) and 24/7 roadside assistance. You could also add a service package of choice. For example:
You will pay the lease costs (including maintenance and insurance package) with your gross salary. Depending on your tax bracket, you will enjoy a tax advantage of at least 40% compared to a purchase. In our calculator you can calculate the costs and savings of a lease bicycle.
Absolutely! For a lease bike, accessories can be leased along for 15% of the recommended retail price. The gross/net benefit therefore also applies here. However, this only applies to accessories that can be attached to the bike, such as a different saddle, panniers, crate or new pedals. Exceptions to this rule are a helmet and chain lock. For other "loose" accessories, such as a rain suit, bike computer, this advantage does not apply and they can therefore not be leased.
Keep in mind that you lease any accessories directly along with your bike. As soon as you leave the store with your new bike, the lease contract is activated. After that, no more accessories can be added.
The untaxed mileage compensation can be paid in combination with the lease bike. This works as follows. You are not entitled to the untaxed mileage compensation for the mileages travelled to work with the lease bike. However, for the days and/or mileages you travel by an alternative means of transport (own car, public transport) your employer may continue to pay out the mileage compensation. For example: before the new lease arrangement, you travel 5 times a week by private car and receive a mileage allowance for this. Thanks to the new lease arrangement, you now travel to the office by lease bike two days a week and by your own car three days a week. Your employer may continue to pay a mileage compensation for three days a week. It is important that you and your employer can make a plausible case that these commuter mileages were not covered by the lease bike, but by car or public transport.
Absolutely! If the company where you work facilitates the lease bike plan and therefore does not make a monthly contribution, you may pay your monthly costs from your gross salary. This is called voluntary exchange. The ‘Belastingdienst’ (tax authorities) have specified this in the so-called cafeteria plan. Through this construction, your gross salary is temporarily reduced by the monthly lease amount.
We make you an offer to take over the bicycle for +/- 20% of the value (new). The exact amount cannot be determined on forehand and depends on the final condition of the bicycle. If you are not interested in taking over the bicycle, we will take the bicycle back - free of charge.
In the event of theft, you are entitled to a new, equivalent bike of the same retail price within your existing lease contract.
The delivery of a new bike following theft may affect the acquisition percentage of the bike at the end of the lease contract. The acquisition percentage of a bike after 36 months is around 20%. If a new bike is delivered following theft, a higher acquisition rate will apply. This is because your bike will be worth more because the new bike won't be 36 months old. As such, try to prevent theft at all times by always double locking your bike. Preferably to a fixed object.
